Allegro is Poland's largest marketplace, and the question sellers in Turkey ask us most often is: "Can I sell on Allegro with my Turkish company?" The short answer is yes; the long answer is "for a while, with difficulty". This article explains the difference between opening an account and selling sustainably: where a Turkish company gets stuck, what a Polish legal entity solves, how the product enters Poland, how VAT is set up, what Allegro requires, how shipping and returns work, and why we think the first step is a product-level profitability check. Amazon (.pl/.de) is the subject of a separate article.
Short answer: Allegro opens accounts for companies outside the European Economic Area too; your company in Turkey can pass identity and company verification and start selling. But five things arrive at once: payouts go through an intermediary payment institution rather than a Polish account, Allegro's free returns and the Smart programme require a return address in Poland, storing goods in Poland means Polish VAT registration and, as a non-EU company, a mandatory fiscal representative, a product from outside the EU needs a responsible person in the EU under the GPSR, and buyers expect Polish invoices and Polish support. That is why we start with a limited company in Poland, a warehouse in Poland and the right VAT set-up; the decision is made by a product-level profitability check.
Allegro with a Turkish company: where you get stuck
Allegro's help centre has a separate page called "registration for sellers from outside the European Economic Area"; so a Turkish company is not a technical barrier. You complete the registration form, upload company documents and the representatives' IDs, verify the bank account and pass the beneficial-owner check the payment operator requires. Then practice begins:
- Payouts. To receive sales proceeds the account must accept złoty; for non-EEA sellers the route Allegro suggests is an intermediary such as Payoneer or WorldFirst. It works, but every payout passes through an intermediary, an exchange rate and a commission layer.
- Return address. The free return Allegro offers buyers does not work if the seller has no Polish address; to join the Smart programme you must also state an address in Poland in your return conditions. A listing without Smart is a listing the Polish buyer filters out.
- Where the goods are. If you ship item by item from Turkey, every order goes through customs, delivery takes weeks and when the buyer uses the 14-day right of withdrawal the return goes back to Turkey. If you put the goods in a warehouse in Poland, you become a Polish VAT payer; for a company established outside the EU that registration is possible only with a fiscal representative (VAT Act art. 18a; the only exceptions are the United Kingdom and Norway). The fiscal representative is jointly liable for the tax with you, so they require a deposit or bank guarantee and file the monthly JPK_VAT return.
- GPSR. Since 13 December 2024 every product sold in the EU needs a responsible person established in the EU and Polish-language safety information in the listing; if the manufacturer is outside the EU, the seller posting the listing may be deemed to have taken on that responsibility. Allegro does not publish a new listing with an empty safety-information field.
- Invoices and language. The Polish buyer, especially a business buyer, expects a Polish VAT invoice; questions arrive in Polish and response time counts towards your account's quality score. An account whose score drops below Neutral loses Smart.
Each of these five can be overcome on its own. All five together, in an account run from Turkey, usually reach the same result within the first three months: sales but no profit, or an account but no Smart. The sustainable set-up we see is this: a limited company in Poland (Sp. z o.o.), a warehouse in Poland, a Polish VAT number and a Turkish-speaking team running the day-to-day. How the company is formed is at the Start a company stop and in the formation with a partner in Turkey article.
How the product enters Poland: A.TR, import VAT, labelling
Thanks to the customs union between Turkey and the EU, industrial products and processed agricultural products enter Poland without customs duty on an A.TR movement certificate. The A.TR is not a certificate of origin; it shows that the goods are in free circulation in Turkey, and it is valid for four months. Outside its scope: agricultural products, coal and steel; for those there is the EUR.1 and separate tariff rules. Even at zero duty, import VAT (23% in Poland) arises separately; a company that is an active VAT payer, files through a customs agent and has no arrears can settle that VAT in the return without paying cash (art. 33a). Import requires the company's EORI number; it is obtained with formation.
Three rules for the product itself: the label, warnings and instructions of a product sold in Poland must be in Polish; in product groups that require CE marking the declaration of conformity and the technical file must be ready; for the GPSR the listing must carry the manufacturer, the responsible person in the EU and the safety information. Because your Polish company is the importer, it is also the GPSR responsible person; this is the second reason it closes the gap in the Turkish-company model.
How VAT is set up: Polish VAT, OSS, KSeF
After formation the Polish company registers for VAT (VAT-R) and, for intra-EU transactions, for VAT-EU. Sales to Polish consumers on Allegro are subject to Polish VAT; a Polish business buyer receives a Polish invoice. If you also open Allegro's Czech, Slovak and Hungarian markets, once the EU-wide distance-selling threshold of EUR 10,000 is exceeded the VAT of the buyer's country applies and is paid through the OSS system in a single return filed in Poland; no separate registration is needed in those countries, as long as the goods ship from Poland. In Poland's mandatory e-invoicing system, KSeF, invoices to consumers are optional rather than mandatory; invoices to business buyers go through KSeF; details in the KSeF article. All these returns sit with the certified accountant partner; we keep the calendar and the Turkish summary.
The Allegro account: verification, commission, Smart
With a Polish company, opening the account is the same as for any Polish seller: KRS and NIP, the representative's ID, a verification transfer. What follows has three headings.
Commission. Listing is free; Allegro takes a commission on the sale of between 1% and 17% net depending on the category, and that commission is calculated on the product price plus the delivery charge. Monthly subscriptions are optional. The rates are published on Allegro's price-list page and change; in the profitability check we calculate with the current tariff.
Smart. The programme in which the buyer pays a monthly fee and gets free delivery; since 2 March 2026 a single threshold of PLN 49.90. The Polish buyer often looks only at Smart listings. On the seller side the conditions are: an account quality score above Neutral, a return address in Poland, at least two door-delivery and three pickup-point or parcel-locker methods from Allegro's list (InPost above all), and on every Smart shipment a seller contribution of a few złoty depending on order value and delivery method. That contribution, like the commission, comes out of the margin.
Quality. Dispatch time, cancellation rate, response time and buyer reviews determine the account score. The score affects Smart and visibility; that is why Polish-language customer service is not a "nice to have" but an infrastructure item.
Warehouse and shipping: 3PL or One Fulfillment
There are two realistic options. A logistics partner in Poland (3PL): goods arrive in bulk from Turkey, the partner stores them, ships orders through the InPost and courier network and accepts returns; you define your own delivery methods on Allegro. Or Allegro's own service, One Fulfillment: goods go to Allegro's warehouse, Allegro stores, ships and processes returns; storage, return handling and labelling are charged separately and delivery methods stay within Allegro's set-up. Which one depends on the product's volume, return rate and how many channels you will sell in; if you plan more than one channel (your own store, Amazon), an independent 3PL is usually more flexible. In both cases an address in Poland and Polish VAT are prerequisites.
Returns, withdrawal and complaints: Polish consumer law
A consumer may withdraw without giving a reason within 14 days of delivery and returns the goods within 14 days; the seller may extend this period, not shorten it. On Allegro Smart shipments Allegro pays the return postage; outside Smart, a free return works only if the seller has entered return conditions and the address is in Poland. Withdrawal and complaint are different things: if the product is defective the consumer may file a non-conformity claim (repair, replacement, price reduction or withdrawal from the contract) for two years from delivery, and in that case the postage is on the seller. If the seller does not respond within 14 days, Allegro intervenes in the buyer's favour. The return rate is the most overlooked input of the profitability calculation by category; a margin calculation in clothing and footwear that ignores it is wrong.
A realistic start: the profitability check first
The order is: a free profitability check with product and cost data (product-level net margin after commission, Smart contribution, shipping, warehousing, import VAT and a returns allowance) → if the margin works, a company, VAT and EORI in Poland → a warehouse partner and the first shipment (A.TR, GPSR documents, Polish labels) → the Allegro account, category approvals, Polish listings, Smart → first orders and a weekly rhythm. We don't quote fixed durations; company formation, the bank and the first shipment are separate calendars and each has its own article. If the margin does not work, we say so in writing; the purpose of the check is not to sell but to decide.

Frequently asked
Can't I sell with my Turkish company without forming a Polish one at all?
You can open an account and ship item by item from Turkey. But no Smart, no free returns, slow delivery and every order through customs; if you store in Poland, VAT registration with a fiscal representative is required. An option for a test, not for scale.
Can I have the profitability check done before forming a Polish company?
Yes, the check is meant for before the company. With product and cost data, the current Allegro tariff and shipping prices we produce the net margin; the company decision comes after that table.
Can I also open Allegro's Czech and Hungarian markets?
From the same account, from the warehouse in Poland; the listings must be in that country's language, the GPSR information added in that language, and after the EUR 10,000 threshold the OSS return is due. First the set-up settles in Poland, then a market is added.
What we do
We do the product-channel analysis and the profitability check. We coordinate company formation, VAT and EORI registration and the handover to the accountant through the Start a company stop. We open the Allegro account, obtain category approvals, build the Polish listings and GPSR fields and meet the Smart conditions; we set up the first shipment and the returns flow with the warehouse partner; we run the day-to-day (stock, prices, questions, returns, advertising) with reporting in Turkish. VAT, OSS and KSeF returns sit with the certified accountant partner; the customs declaration with the customs-agent partner. No sales guarantee and no fixed packages; the advertising budget is yours.
